becomes a continuous process of development during which architecture arises
from the various interactions and contexts that the building takes part in through
time. Architecture is only robust when it enables the creation of a number of spatial
possibilities, involving the users and inspiring them to use the physical framework
in their everyday lives. Accordingly, the core of the significance of a building and
its spatial structure need to be free of the particular situations of everyday life to
make sure that architecture and its significance may develop through time. The
significance should be linked to a powerful single theme that is able to unite the
various parts of the building in a whole. The power and resilience of this unity is
important for the ability of the building to incorporate change; it is determinant
for the continuous process of change over time of architecture and the ability of
architecture to continue to frame the building and its meaning into an identifiable
whole.
The project is based on two primary cases. It analyses various aspects of the ability
of architecture to enter actively into the creation of identity organizations, focusing
of three main themes: Link, Territory and Transparency. The concept of a robust
architecture is developed through these analyses as a notion that link the empirical
material of the project and puts it into perspective.
