I omkvædet benytter Chuck Berry igen en simpel kvartfigur, der ligger<br />

fast uanset, hvad akkorderne laver nedenunder. Dette er igen et levn fra<br />

den meget gamle landblues, hvor der ikke benyttes skiftende akkorder.<br />

Faktisk er det et oldgammelt levn fra den oprindelige afrikanske musik,<br />

der ikke kendte til flerstemmig musik eller harmonier.<br />

Både intro–temaet og riffet i omkvædet varieres på en meget<br />

humoristisk måde fra vers til vers. Chuck Berry bruger her den typiske<br />

blues effekt, spørgsmål/svar, hvor guitaren reagerer på sangerens<br />

melodi, spiller med og udfordrer.<br />
