EDUCATION
• She holds a bachelor degree in
Political Science, with specialization
in Law and Diplomacy, from Kabul
University, Afghanistan and studied
German, Mathematics, Chemistry
and Physics at Karlsruhe University,
Germany, from where she also
obtained a Certificate in Social
Sciences. Further training includes
diplomacy courses and management
seminars in Malaysia and the
United States.
PROFESSIONAL CAREER
• She started as a Crime Investigator
in the Office of the Attorney-General
at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
in Kabul
• 2006: Deputy Chief of Staff at the
Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kabul
and Chief of Staff and Advisor to
the Minister and later Counsellor,
Chargé d’Affaires and at the Afghan
Embassy in Washington, D.C., as
well as Director-General of the Office
of Human Rights.
• 2017: Ambassador to the Republic
of Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina,
Croatia, Hungary, Liechtenstein, and
Slovenia. She promotes the multilateral
agenda with the Vienna-based
organizations including CTBTO,
IACA, IAEA, ICMPD, INCB, OSCE,
UNIDO, UNOV/UNODC.

and the Caribbean, Coordinator Representcaciones

Peacebuilding and Human Security
Division, Director Non-Proliferation
and Disarmament Division, Director
General Non-Proliferation and
Security Threat Reduction, and most
recently as Director General, International
Security Policy.
• 2010-2013: Overseas, she has served
as Minister Counsellor and Head
of Political Section at Canada’s
Permanent Mission to the UN in
New York and was Deputy Permanent
Representative of Canada to
NATO. She is a past recipient of both
the Minister’s Citation for Foreign
Policy Excellence and the Deputy
Minister’s Award of Excellence.
