Alpha MEM is a different formulation of the MEM Eagle
and contains a higher concentration of amino acids. It also
has a higher concentration of lipon acid, vitamines and
pyruvate. Primarily it was developed for the cultivation of
hamster kidney cells, but today it is used for a broad range
of mammalian cells. Among others the Alpha MEM panders
the growth and progeny of bone marrow cells in suspension
culture and monolayer. A further possibility is the use as
a separation medium or for the outbreeding of amnio cells.

Alpha MEM ist eine abweichende Formulierung des MEM
Eagle und enthält eine höhere Konzentration von Aminosäuren.
Auch wurden der Gehalt von Liponsäure, Vitaminen
und Pyruvat verändert. Entwickelt wurde es ursprünglich
zur Kultivierung von Hamster-Nierenzellen, wird heute aber
zur Kultivierung einer breiten Palette von Säugetierzellen
genutzt. Unter anderem begünstigt das Alpha MEM Wachstum
und Vermehrung von Knochenmarkzellen in Suspensions-
und Monolayerkultur. Eine weitere Möglichkeit ist
die Nutzung des Alpha MEM als Selektionsmedium oder
für die Anzucht von Amnionzellen.
