<strong>Code</strong> 22 MAKING AND KEEPING OF RECORDS<br />

22A Keeping <strong>of</strong> Records by <strong>the</strong> Owner <strong>of</strong> an Electrical<br />

Installation that Requires Periodic Inspection, Testing<br />

and Certification<br />

(a) It is <strong>the</strong> responsibility <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> owner <strong>of</strong> a periodically tested electrical<br />

installation referred to in Regulation 20 (see <strong>Code</strong> 20) to keep <strong>the</strong><br />

latest test certificates and make available <strong>for</strong> inspection by <strong>the</strong><br />

Director.<br />

(b) For high voltage fixed installation specified in Regulation 20(1)(c) (see<br />

<strong>Code</strong> 20A), <strong>the</strong> owner should also make available <strong>for</strong> inspection a<br />

written summary <strong>of</strong> safety precautions taken <strong>for</strong> each event <strong>of</strong><br />

testing and maintenance work carried out on <strong>the</strong> installation.<br />

22B Making and Keeping <strong>of</strong> Records by a Registered<br />

Electrical Contractor<br />

(a) It is <strong>the</strong> responsibility <strong>of</strong> a registered electrical contractor to make<br />

and keep proper records on all electrical works carried out by him<br />

and his employees <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> lesser <strong>of</strong> 5 years or <strong>the</strong> time since his<br />

registration as an electrical contractor.<br />

(b) The registered electrical contractor should also ensure that a copy<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> records is made available to <strong>the</strong> owner <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> electrical<br />

installation upon completion <strong>of</strong> work.<br />

22C Types <strong>of</strong> Records<br />

(a) For <strong>the</strong> purpose <strong>of</strong> <strong>Code</strong> 22B, a simple single line diagram with<br />

symbols to Appendix 8 and simple test results against <strong>the</strong> lists <strong>of</strong><br />

items to be inspected and tested detailed in a number <strong>of</strong> checklists<br />

under <strong>Code</strong> 22D toge<strong>the</strong>r with test data recorded in <strong>the</strong> Schedule <strong>of</strong><br />

Test Results <strong>for</strong> Electrical <strong>Wiring</strong> (sample shown in Appendix 13) are<br />

acceptable as proper records.<br />

(b) For <strong>the</strong> purpose <strong>of</strong> <strong>Code</strong> 22A(b), a record <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> permit-to-work<br />

toge<strong>the</strong>r with a maintenance log are acceptable.<br />

22D Checklists<br />

(1) Checklists to be used<br />

Depending on <strong>the</strong> varying requirements as indicated in subparagraphs (a)<br />

and (b), records showing <strong>the</strong> results <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> items <strong>of</strong> inspection and testing<br />

per<strong>for</strong>med according to <strong>the</strong> checklists numbered 1 to 4 in Appendix 13<br />

are generally acceptable.<br />
