• The height from <strong>the</strong> floor is at least 2m above <strong>the</strong> lower limit<br />

<strong>of</strong> Zone 1.<br />

(vii) In addition, every luminaire should have an enclosure providing<br />

Class II or equivalent insulation and providing protection against<br />

mechanical impact <strong>of</strong> medium severity.<br />

(6) Fountains<br />

(a) In Zones 0 and 1 <strong>of</strong> fountains, one or more <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> following<br />

protective measures should be employed:<br />

(i) SELV, <strong>the</strong> source <strong>for</strong> SELV being installed outside Zones 0<br />

and 1;<br />

(ii) Automatic disconnection <strong>of</strong> supply, using an RCD having <strong>the</strong><br />

characteristics specified in <strong>Code</strong> 11J;<br />

(iii) Electrical separation, <strong>the</strong> source <strong>for</strong> electrical separation<br />

supplying only one item <strong>of</strong> current using equipment and being<br />

installed outside Zones 0 and 1.<br />

(b) For a fountain, <strong>the</strong> following additional requirements should be met:<br />

(i) A cable <strong>for</strong> electrical equipment in Zone 0 should be installed as<br />

far outside <strong>the</strong> basin rim as is reasonably practicable and run to<br />

<strong>the</strong> electrical equipment inside Zone 0 by <strong>the</strong> shortest<br />

practicable route;<br />

(ii) In Zone 1, a cable should be selected, installed and provided<br />

with mechanical protection to medium severity (AG2) and <strong>the</strong><br />

relevant submersion in water depth (AD8). The cable type to BS<br />

7919 is suitable up to a depth <strong>of</strong> 10m <strong>of</strong> water. For depths <strong>of</strong><br />

water greater than 10m <strong>the</strong> cable manufacturer should be<br />

consulted;<br />

(iii) Electrical equipment in Zones 0 or 1 should be provided with<br />

mechanical protection to medium severity (AG2), e.g. by use <strong>of</strong><br />

mesh glass or by grids which can only be removed by <strong>the</strong> use <strong>of</strong><br />

a tool;<br />

(iv) A luminaire installed in Zones 0 or 1 should be fixed and should<br />

comply with BS EN 60598-2-18.<br />

(v) An electric pump should comply with <strong>the</strong> requirements <strong>of</strong> BS EN<br />

60335-2-41.<br />

26N Installation in Restrictive Conductive Locations<br />

(1) Scope<br />

The particular requirements <strong>of</strong> this <strong>Code</strong> should apply to installations<br />

within or intended to supply equipment or appliances to be used within<br />

a Restrictive Conductive Location. They do not apply to any location in<br />

which freedom <strong>of</strong> movement is not physically constrained.<br />
