Checklists<br />

Requirements to be Used<br />

(a) Periodic inspection and testing <strong>for</strong> a low voltage<br />

installation which was connected to supply:<br />

(i) be<strong>for</strong>e 1.1.1985 1<br />

(ii) on or after 1.1.1985 and be<strong>for</strong>e 1.6.1992 1 and 2<br />

(iii) on or after 1.6.1992 1, 2 and 3<br />

(b) Inspection and testing carried out upon completion <strong>of</strong> 1, 2, 3<br />

any electrical work <strong>for</strong> a low voltage installation and 4<br />

(2) Test sequence<br />

Where more than one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> checklists are to be used, <strong>the</strong> items to be<br />

tested should follow <strong>the</strong> sequence stated in <strong>Code</strong> 21B(2)(a). The records<br />

against <strong>the</strong> items <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> checklists used do not indicate <strong>the</strong> test sequence.<br />

(3) Checklist <strong>for</strong> high voltage installations<br />

For high voltage installations that are required to be inspected, tested<br />

and certified at least once every year, records showing <strong>the</strong> results <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

items <strong>of</strong> inspection and testing per<strong>for</strong>med according to checklist<br />

numbered 5 in Appendix 13 are generally acceptable. Recommendation<br />

<strong>for</strong> testing <strong>of</strong> high voltage installations given in relevant recognised<br />

standards and manufacturers <strong>for</strong> commissioning and periodic tests,<br />

where appropriate, should also be used.<br />

(4) Content <strong>of</strong> checklists<br />

(a) The checklists given in Appendix 13 contain a number <strong>of</strong> important<br />

items to be recorded after an inspection and testing and <strong>the</strong>y are<br />

given to indicate generally <strong>the</strong> minimum requirements <strong>for</strong> record<br />

purposes only. The registered electrical worker carrying out <strong>the</strong><br />

inspections and tests should fill in test results and <strong>the</strong> rating <strong>of</strong> key<br />

items where indicated in <strong>the</strong> checklists; and must certify with date<br />

on each individual item <strong>of</strong> inspection and testing listed. The use <strong>of</strong><br />

initials <strong>for</strong> such certification is acceptable if a sample <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> initial<br />

against a full signature <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> registered electrical worker has been<br />

given in <strong>the</strong> records. Where any item listed in <strong>the</strong> checklists is not<br />

applicable to <strong>the</strong> installation under inspection and testing, <strong>the</strong><br />

registered electrical worker should also certify it to be so. The use <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> abbreviation ‘N/A’ is acceptable <strong>for</strong> this purpose. The registered<br />

electrical worker should also ensure that all o<strong>the</strong>r relevant inspection<br />
