(i) A minimum horizontal or vertical separation distance of 300 mm should be provided between Category 4 circuits and circuits of other categories. (ii) For cables laid underground, if the separation distance of 300 mm cannot be achieved, a reduced separation is acceptable provided a slab of concrete is inserted between the circuits. The slab should be at least 50 mm thick and of such width and length that at every point, the shortest path between the circuits round the concrete should exceed 180 mm. 5D Segregation of Circuits from Overhead Telecommunication Lines and Telephone Lines For overhead telecommunication and telephone lines, reference should be made to relevant Codes of Practice and guidelines issued by relevant authorities.
