26I Lightning Protection Installation<br />

Lightning protection installations should be installed to IEC 62305, BS EN<br />

62305, AS/NZS 1768, NFPA 780 or equivalent.<br />

26J Rising Mains Installation<br />

(a) Any building <strong>of</strong> more than four floors including <strong>the</strong> ground floor should<br />

be provided with 3-phase electrical rising mains with a 3-phase 4-wire<br />

tee-<strong>of</strong>f at each floor unless o<strong>the</strong>rwise agreed by <strong>the</strong> electricity supplier.<br />

(b) The design <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> rising mains installation should be agreed by <strong>the</strong><br />

electricity supplier.<br />

(c) Separate riser earthing conductors should be provided to earth all units<br />

<strong>the</strong>rein. The minimum cross-sectional area <strong>of</strong> riser earthing conductor<br />

should be 70 mm2 <strong>for</strong> copper and 150 mm2 <strong>for</strong> aluminium.<br />

(d ) The consumer’s main connection between <strong>the</strong> electricity supplier’s meter<br />

and <strong>the</strong> consumer’s main switch should be installed and maintained by<br />

<strong>the</strong> consumer and should be not less than 4 mm2 stranded copper<br />

conductors.<br />

(e) In multi-consumer premises a device capable <strong>of</strong> both isolating and<br />

switching <strong>the</strong> full load current <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> whole installation should be<br />

provided <strong>for</strong> each consumer at a position immediately be<strong>for</strong>e <strong>the</strong><br />

electricity supplier’s meter. For a single phase installation this device<br />

should be <strong>of</strong> double-pole type interrupting all live conductors.<br />

(f ) In multi-consumer premises no part <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> communal installation should<br />

pass through any individual consumer’s unit within <strong>the</strong> building.<br />

26K Temporary Supply Installation <strong>for</strong> Construction and<br />

Demolition Sites or Repair and Testing Purposes<br />

(1) Scope<br />

The particular requirements <strong>of</strong> this <strong>Code</strong> should apply to temporary<br />

installation providing supplies during <strong>the</strong> execution <strong>of</strong> construction or<br />

demolition works, or <strong>for</strong> repair and testing purposes. This type <strong>of</strong><br />

installation should not be used as permanent supply. Approval should be<br />

obtained from <strong>the</strong> electricity supplier<br />

(2) General<br />

(a) This type <strong>of</strong> installation should comply with <strong>the</strong> requirement <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

<strong>Wiring</strong> <strong>Regulations</strong>.<br />
