priority. Second, a low proportion <strong>of</strong> first time nesters (22%) indicates reduced adult survival. Third, it is not<br />

likely that <strong>the</strong> decline was caused by decreased clutch size. Decreased fertility cannot be ruled<br />

out because <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> lack <strong>of</strong>information on <strong>the</strong> proportion <strong>of</strong> adult females which nest in a given<br />

year.<br />
