History <strong>of</strong> Qubilai Qa'an<br />

When Ariq Boke conceived the desire to be Qa'an, he rebelled against<br />

his elder brother Qubilai Qa'an and aided the sons <strong>of</strong> Mongke Qa'an,<br />

Asutai and Uriing-Tash, and their sons and kinsmen. But in the end<br />

their design came to nought, and they submitted to Qubilai Qa'an;<br />

and the narrative <strong>of</strong> these events is therefore included in the present<br />

history, which consists <strong>of</strong> three parts:<br />
