<strong>The</strong> ruler is called yang.1*1 Qubilai Qa'an gave him his daughter in<br />

marriage. His son is one <strong>of</strong> the Qa'an's intimates, but he is not yang<br />

there.1**<br />

Fourth—the shing <strong>of</strong> the town <strong>of</strong> Namging.153 This is a large town in<br />

the kingdom <strong>of</strong> Khitai on the bank <strong>of</strong> the River Qara-Moren: it is one<br />

<strong>of</strong> the ancient capitals <strong>of</strong> Khitai.<br />

Fifth—the shing <strong>of</strong> the town <strong>of</strong> Yangju,154 which is on the frontier <strong>of</strong><br />

Manzi. 'Ala al-Din Finjan, the son <strong>of</strong> Saif al-Din Taghachar Noyan,<br />

is stationed there together with a Khitayan nbker called Suching,<br />

'Umar Finjan Manzitai, and Beg Khocha Finjan Tusi.<br />

Seventh—the shing <strong>of</strong> the town <strong>of</strong> Fu-Ju,: 57 one <strong>of</strong> the towns <strong>of</strong> Manzi.<br />

Formerly the shing was here and then it was transferred to Zaitun,^<br />

but now it has been brought back. <strong>The</strong> governor at one time was<br />

Zhen, the brother <strong>of</strong> Dashman, and is now the Emir 'Umar. Zaitun<br />

is the port, <strong>of</strong> which the governor is Baha al-Din <strong>of</strong> Qunduz.<br />
