and built into the facing of a terrace<br />

wall.<br />

In a cultivated field terrace wall on a<br />

hillside olive grove.<br />

Roofing<br />

Roofed by two large slabs placed on<br />

top of each other, the top one being at<br />

the same height as the terrace wall's<br />

top row. A hook from which the pulley<br />

was hung is embedded in the lower<br />

slab.<br />

Facings<br />

The interior facing of the hole is made<br />

of slightly dressed stone with rubble<br />

behind it and reaches a depth of 6.70<br />

m by 76 cm in diameter. The external<br />

facing (which reaches a height of 1.81<br />

m above ground level) is a semicircular<br />

ind<strong>en</strong>t in the retaining wall.<br />

Op<strong>en</strong>ings<br />

The op<strong>en</strong>ing in the well giving access<br />

to the water has a ledge made of a<br />

large stone slab to stop people falling<br />

in.<br />
