Description<br />

Rectangular-shaped hut with a double<br />

sloped roof. The roof is made of<br />

beams and wood<strong>en</strong> frames which,<br />

dep<strong>en</strong>ding on the area of the island,<br />

were covered with stone slabs and<br />

earth to make them waterproof or with<br />

plant material.<br />

Uses<br />

Shelter for people and animals.<br />

Site<br />

Next to the wall of the field in which it<br />

stands.<br />

Ground Plan<br />

Rectangular.<br />

Roofing<br />

Two slopes each with a frame made of<br />

20 trunks, a sandstone cross beam<br />

arch and a main beam made of two<br />

logs. Sandstone slabs covered with<br />

earth rest on the frames. The roof is<br />

reinforced with a sandstone pillar in<br />

the middle of the cross beam arch.<br />

Facings<br />

Facings with two exposed sides and<br />

rubble betwe<strong>en</strong> them. The walls were<br />

built with little dressed stone laid with<br />

quite op<strong>en</strong> joints. The stones used to<br />

build the doorway and the corners are<br />

the most dressed ones. The facing is<br />

3.50 m high at the top of the crest.<br />

<strong>Materials</strong><br />

Roofing made of wild olive tree<br />

beams, sandstone slabs and ashlars,<br />

facings of sandstone, limestone and<br />

adobe.<br />

Flooring<br />

Earth.<br />

Op<strong>en</strong>ings<br />

It has a doorway and two little windows.<br />

The doorway is in one of the<br />

long walls and slightly off-c<strong>en</strong>tred; it<br />

has an 80 em span depressed arch<br />

and a lintel made of two pieces of<br />

sandstone with a trunk betwe<strong>en</strong> them.<br />

The 1.62 m high jambs are made of<br />

two columns of stone and the threshold<br />

is made of earth. It had a door.<br />

The little windows, located on each<br />

short wall, are made of sandstone<br />

slabs.<br />

Accessory items<br />

Inside there is a small food storage<br />

place and two tethering stones; outside<br />

and next to the hut there is an irregularly<br />

shaped livestockyard and near<br />

it a charcoal bunker.<br />
