Facings<br />

Double-faced terrace walls made of<br />

dressed stone with rubble in the<br />

middle which make braons (double<br />

walls) more than 2 metres wide in<br />

some cases and above the height of<br />

the terrace in order to be more resistant<br />

to water pressure. Some significant<br />

features are the size of the stones<br />

used to increase the retaining<br />

wall's str<strong>en</strong>gth and the quite op<strong>en</strong><br />

joints designed to improve drainage<br />

in the ev<strong>en</strong>t that the terraced field<br />

should exceed its water infiltration<br />

capacity. The last row of stones forms<br />

a low crown levelling.<br />
