Description<br />

A wedge-shaped iron piece and two<br />

very thin pieces of iron.<br />

Size<br />

The wedge is approximately 13 cm<br />

long with a head of 3.5 cm in diameter.<br />

Each thin piece is 13 cm long and<br />

0.5 cm thick.<br />

Approximate weight<br />

The wedge weigh 600 g while the thin<br />

pieces 200 g.<br />

Use<br />

To op<strong>en</strong>, crack or break a stone.<br />

Ways of using it<br />

A series of wedges are set out (the<br />

wedge betwe<strong>en</strong> two flat pieces) in the<br />

ho<strong>les</strong> made in the rock and located<br />

along the line where we want to break<br />

the stone. The head of the wedge is<br />

hit with a work large hammer or a<br />

sledge hammer until the stone is brok<strong>en</strong>.<br />

The two thin pieces prev<strong>en</strong>t the<br />

stone from braking off in the wrong<br />

direction,<br />
