BOTANICAL PESTICIDES
AND INSECTICIDES
IN AGRICULTURE
Title of the Study :- “Botanical Pesticides and insecticides in
Agriculture”.
Objectives of the Study :- 1. Promoting eco- friendly
Botanical Pesticides in agriculture
2. Bringing awareness about non – chemical organic farming.
Introduction:- The high intensity of Chemical Pesticides
application has become a serious cause of concern in recent
years. Damage caused by chemical pesticides to the
environment, animal & human health is evident. In the
circumstances, there is a growing need to promote the use of
alternative methods of crop protection such as “Botanical
Pesticides” – which are environmentally friendly.
Botanical pesticides and insecticides are derivates of plants
and herbs, which can destroy the pests damaging agricultural
crops.
Advantages of Botanical Pesticides :
1. Eco- Friendly, non-pollutant, not harmful to natural
enemies of pests in nature.
2. Reduces chemical pesticides usage and not harmful even
on repeated application.
3. No serious residual effect on man and animals and not
dangerous if it is adverently consumed also.
4. Low –cost technology, convenient, easy and available
locally for small scale farmers.
Materials & Methods of the Project :- Above 30 species of
planets with pesticidal properties, solutions of some plant
extracts, charts showing planets and their action on various
pests and preparation methods of various botanical
pesticides. Picture of 1) a) Consumption of chemical
pesticides in India, b) Why no to chemical pesticides, c)
adverse effects of chemical pesticides on man 2) a) causes for
limited usage of Biological control methods b) IPM
(Integrated pest Management) policy.
