ELECTRIC CHIMNEY<br />

2012<br />

World's most effective and dangerous pollution is “Air<br />

Pollution”. To Prevent air and control air pollution, I<br />

invented a chimney.<br />

Construction: It consists <strong>of</strong> a copper wire suspended with<br />

it and an aluminum foil is made to surround it. An<br />

induction coil is made to connect with it. There are two<br />

terminals connected to <strong>the</strong> induction coil, one is from<br />

aluminum foil and o<strong>the</strong>r is from copper wire. This<br />

induction coil will act as a capacitor. When a potential <strong>of</strong><br />

20,000 volts is supplied to this circuit, it will create a<br />

field.<br />

Working : Smoke is a colloid <strong>of</strong> air and carbon. Colloid is<br />

nothing but a dispersed particle dispersed in air medium.<br />

Since, carbon is weightless, it can casily float in air. To<br />

avoid <strong>the</strong> floating <strong>of</strong> carbon, we collect <strong>the</strong> carbon<br />

Particles toge<strong>the</strong>r. But carbon particle won't adhere with<br />

each o<strong>the</strong>r. Because it contains electric charges. We<br />

should remove <strong>the</strong>se charges, to make <strong>the</strong> carbon particles<br />

toge<strong>the</strong>r as mass. When <strong>the</strong> smoke enters into <strong>the</strong> field,<br />

<strong>the</strong> charge in <strong>the</strong> carbon particles are removed. So, <strong>the</strong><br />

carbon particles adhere with each o<strong>the</strong>r and it<br />

precipitates. So, <strong>the</strong> pure air is let out from <strong>the</strong> chimney.<br />
