DISASTER MANAGEMENT<br />

Aim:- To make <strong>the</strong> people aware about disaster and disaster which occurs<br />

in specific areas so that <strong>the</strong>y can prepare <strong>the</strong>mselves to minimize <strong>the</strong><br />

effect <strong>of</strong> disaster.<br />

Principle :- To show <strong>the</strong> following disaster zones in map.<br />

1- Landslide Cause :- Earthquake, Deforestation, Excessive construction<br />

on slopes.<br />

Area :- Hillsides, valleys.<br />

2- Flood Cause :- Large volume <strong>of</strong> rainwater enters river channel, when<br />

a river becomes shallow due to deposition on its bed.<br />

Area:- Ganga-Brahmputra basin<br />

Brahmputra in Assam, Koshi in Bihar & Mahanadi in Orissa.<br />

3- Earthquake Cause :- <strong>Vol</strong>canic eruptions & displacement <strong>of</strong> plates.<br />

Area :- Foothills <strong>of</strong> Himalaya and Ganga-Brahmputra basin.<br />

4- Tsunami Cause :- Earthquakes, <strong>Vol</strong>canic eruptions, Water explosions &<br />

detonation <strong>of</strong> nuclear weapons.<br />

Area :- Coastal region.<br />

I. LED bulbs<br />

III. Wooden plyboard<br />

V. Batteries ( 9 V)<br />

VII. Switches<br />

VIII. Decorative tapes<br />

Methodology :- LED bulbs are fitted in areas <strong>of</strong> disaster zone on India's<br />

map. For color full bulbs represents four disaster zones. Four switches to<br />

show areas & to operate single disaster zones.<br />

Structure :- Prepared on wooden ply board on which Indian map has<br />

been prepared. Led bulbs are fitted on India's map represents most<br />

affected disaster zones <strong>of</strong> India.<br />

Results :- Switches have two functions pressing first option a bulb starts<br />

glowing shows alarming center <strong>of</strong> that disasters, pressing second option<br />

bulb starts glowing shows whole areas <strong>of</strong> that disaster.<br />

Uses :- This project is very valuable and makes <strong>the</strong> people aware about<br />

disaster which occurs in specific areas so that <strong>the</strong>y can prepare<br />

<strong>the</strong>mselves to minimize effect <strong>of</strong> particular disaster.<br />
