SMOKE PRECIPITATION
Smoke in air aerosol in which carbon particles are
dispersed in air. In big industrial areas smoke is a
nuisance, as it pollute the atmosphere and the carbon
particles are injured to human health.
The carbon particles are precepated and removed from
smoke using Cottrell electrostatic preceptor.
Smoke is passed in to a chamber filled with metallic knob
charged to a very high positive potential.
The negatively charged carbon particles are attracted
towards the positive electrode. The electrode and loss
into their charge and get deposited on the floor of the
chamber. While the gas free from smoke goes out through
the chimney.
Uses : The precipited carbon is used as a by product for
making Indigo Ink, black paints & carbon sheets.
