WASTE IS NOT WASTE
Introduction : In our Surroundings we fine two major
problems one is water scarcity and another is pollution by
Garbage. To over come these problems a project. On
“WASTE IS NOT WASTE” is prepared. The steps in the
project are 1) Mulching 2) Terrace plantation 3)
Preparation of gum by thermocoal. By these methods we
can protect land, water and environment.
Mulching :Mulch is marvelous ingredient protective cover
placed on roots of the plant (or) germinated seeds. Mulch
is primarily used as a soil conditioner. Fresh coloured
organic mulch properly composted, reflects light and
causes optimum temperature around the plant. Excessive
application of mulch creates a breeding ground for insects
and fungi. Our Projects results : Re-use of waste materials
like waste from trees, waste rubber, plastic and kitchen
waste as a mulch reduce environmental pollution. Organic
mulch is inexpensive fertilizer. Effective use if much is
good for vegetation and crops. Before mulching all waste
is better to composted by earth works because it develops
useful bacteria and makes soil porous. Hence it is
supplement soil nutrient. But it is not recommended for
water logged soils. High yield crops occur when drip
irrigation is subjected under the thick layer of plastic
mulch.
Terrace plantation : Growing herbs vegetation and flower
plants on the roof or Terrace of buildings and multistoried
buildings.
Results :- 1.We can grow sufficient leafy vegetables with
Less water.
2. By terrace plantation we can reduce interior
temperature, power consumption and pollution.
