DISASTER MANAGEMENT
AND EARTHQUAKE
Disaster Management is the need of the hour. Through this
exhibit, we have tried to show some solutions to minimize the
hazardous effects of earthquake.
Description of the Exhibit
First part of the exhibit: - Pre-earthquake precautions
(Earthquake Resistance building)

Second Part of the exhibit: - During Earthquake
1. Seismograph 2. Seismic Zones of India 3. Earthquake Beds
4. Satellite Information system
Third Part of the exhibit: - Post Earthquake Management
(Improvised apparatus)
1. Hydraulic Bridge 2. Floating Bridge 3. Car's tube Based
Improvised Boat 4. Wind-alarm Equipment
Construction and Working of Exhibit-
This exhibit has been prepared with the help of things which are
easily available in our day to day life like Woods, Plastic pipes,
Clay, Iron Pipes, Rubber, Syringes etc. In its first part Wheels,
Rubber, and Hydraulic Dampers have been used to resist the
effect of seismic waves. In second part, the measurement of the
earthquake with the help of seismograph, communication with
satellite and the seismic zones of India have been shown. In final
part, some equipment has been shown which can prove life
saving during the post earthquake situation. Through these
equipments, we can extend help in the natural disaster prone
areas within short span of time.
Thus, on the basis of the principles of physics, geology, geoscience,
geography and architecture, we can create such
structures which can nullify the effect of earthquake up to 30%to
40% such basic principles of science if we put into practice in an
innovative way, can prove life- saving during the times of natural
disaster.
