How does the operation of PHARMAC's 'Community Exceptional ...

I gratefully acknowledge Major Campbell Roberts and The Salvation Army for
the financial assistance they provided to me, the time off work to attend
supervision in Auckland and the reams of photocopying. Campbell has
dedicated his life to acting on and engaging with the principles of justice. His
quiet and gentle guidance has been an inspiration to me in writing this thesis.
He will see the product of many of our conversations in these pages.
However, this thesis would not have been possible without the huge and
unselfish support, care and love from my wife, Professor Jo Ann Walton. Her
sacrifice as a ‘thesis widow’ has been enormous. Her advice at crucial times
and her reading and commenting on ideas, words, sentences, paragraphs and
whole chapters has given me the best help possible, all the while trying not to
be a third supervisor. Her love has been expressed in her attention, patience
and support for me particularly at the times of my many entanglements,
frustrations and the depths of my self doubt. She never stopped picking me up
and pointing me in the direction of the finish line.
