CHAPTER 700 - DISCIPLINE AND INACTIVE STATUS OF ATTORNEYS<br />

AMEND Rule 16-773 (b) to make discretionary the filing of a<br />

Petition for Disciplinary or Remedial Action that is based on<br />

corresponding discipline or inactive status in another<br />

jurisdiction, as follows:<br />

Rule 16-773. RECIPROCAL DISCIPLINE OR INACTIVE STATUS<br />

(b) Duty of Bar Counsel Petition in Court of Appeals<br />

Upon receiving <strong>and</strong> verifying information from any source<br />

that in another jurisdiction an attorney has been disciplined or<br />

placed on inactive status based on incapacity, Bar Counsel shall<br />

obtain a certified copy of the disciplinary or remedial order <strong>and</strong><br />

may file it with a Petition for Disciplinary or Remedial Action<br />

in the Court of Appeals pursuant to Rule 16-751 (a)(2), <strong>and</strong> shall<br />

serve copies of the petition <strong>and</strong> order upon the attorney in<br />

accordance with Rule 16-753. A certified copy of the<br />

disciplinary or remedial order shall be attached to the Petition,<br />

<strong>and</strong> a copy of the Petition <strong>and</strong> order shall be served on the<br />

attorney in accordance with Rule 16-753.<br />
