Source: Statistical Abstract Andhra Pradesh (2009) 46% of institutions and 48% of students in higher secondary schools plus Junior Colleges are in Telangana region. Here again, Telangana has more than its share of population. An analysis of the district-wise data however shows that a large number of institutions (and students) are concentrated in Rangareddy and Hyderabad, probably because of more opportunities for higher education (particularly engineering and other professional degrees) available there. Hostels for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Students 3.4.07 Availability of schools at Upper Primary and High School as well as Higher Secondary/Junior College level has improved greatly between 1961 and 2009 in all the regions of the state. Besides this, the state also supports education for the disadvantaged by running residential schools.
