Though Telangana including Hyderabad is ahead <strong>of</strong> other regions, Telangana<br />

excluding Hyderabad is far behind (Figure 3.19). District level figures show that<br />

the number <strong>of</strong> hospital beds per lac population is highest in Hyderabad (148 as<br />

against state average <strong>of</strong> 46). As in education, there is a concentration <strong>of</strong> facilities<br />

in Hyderabad, making for a thinner spread in the Telangana region. The gap<br />

between Telangana without Hyderabad and the state average shows an increase<br />

between 2001 and 2009. Rayalaseema has gained the most, leaving coastal<br />

Andhra behind and increasing the gap between them.<br />
