Yenadis, Yerukulas, Gond etc, and Konda Dhoras in that order. Some <strong>of</strong> these<br />

tribes are concentrated in specific districts and sparsely distributed in other<br />

districts. For example, 80% <strong>of</strong> the Gond etc are concentrated in Adilabad district.<br />

This unevenness is seen even in the distribution <strong>of</strong> major tribal groups across the<br />

regions. Sugalis etc, the largest tribal group (41.4% <strong>of</strong> total tribal population in<br />

Andhra Pradesh) are located in Telangana. They account for 64.2% <strong>of</strong> total tribal<br />

population in Telangana.<br />

7.9.09 The regional distribution <strong>of</strong> tribal communities in Andhra Pradesh is as<br />

follows: 6.6% for the state, 9% in Telangana (including Hyderabad), 3% in<br />

Rayalaseema and 6% in coastal Andhra. Thus Telangana has a higher proportion<br />

<strong>of</strong> tribal communities and both Adivasi and other tribal groups have expressed<br />

strong opinions on the demand for Telangana.<br />
