the need for the project
has been considered in
Chapter 2: Need for
the Project, Objectives
Project Description
Response by email 04.12.09:
Thanked for comments
Note that all comments will be
collated and reported in PAC
Report and when submitted with
the planning application will be
available on the project website
1. Wind speeds at the proposed
site are predicted to be sufficient to
produce enough power for a viable
windfarm
2. As part of the EIA process the
impacts of construction and
operation would be assessed.
Further information will be available
in the ES which will be submitted
with the planning application
3. Natural Capital Ltd has been
concerned than she is as they are located
closer to the proposals
She notes that in general people are afraid
of change and thinks that people are
mistaken in thinking that the windfarms
cause health problems
Agrees that some wildlife may be frightened
away but that using Shetland as an example,
oil exploration has not frightened the wildlife
off and that wildlife can adjust to humans
being on earth
She wrote to Scottish Power a few months
ago for some photos of Whitelee to send to a
charity in Zambia where they have power
cuts every day.
She notes that perhaps she should have
asked us for photos
14. Email 21.10.09 Consultee I would like to comment on and invite your
response ref the Moorhouse Farmers
Windfarm Proposal following the public
meeting in Eglinton Arms Hotel on 20th
October 2009
1. A 40 MW output is miniscule in terms of
national demand and raises serious
questions about the viability of this
operation. In practice, the site will
generate about 30% capacity, or
around 15MW.
2. The construction of such a windfarm will
cause disproportionate disturbance and
despoliation of the landscape.
3. The suspicion is engendered that this
proposal masks future expansion to a
level that will make it financially viable
with, by definition, further disturbance
and despoliation.
