Wildlife
Badgers are present close to the south east boundary
of the site. This is a main sett with satellite setts in
Long Wood. There are pipistrelle bats in the area (see
marked up map)
Sheep around Moorhouse were tested for fallout from
Chernobyl. Some still monitored but not Moorhouse
site
Nature Conservation
Avoid cutting trees where possible-trees capture
carbon
Traffic
Traffic has increased through Eaglesham since
Whitelee opened and in particular the visitor centre
This includes bike traffic along Montgomery and
Polnoon Streets where bikes are going very fast
coming back from Whitelee often without bells
Increase traffic during construction from workforce
access (ie even though heavy loads use a different
route
New Development
A small development of new houses is proposed off
Moor Road in the three fields at the edge of the
village-nothing allowed over 3 storeys and to include
some bungalows
Community Trust Fund
Many visitors asked for any Community Fund to be
paid into a Trust which was controlled by the
Community Council and not via the Council
This would have benefits in terms of administering the
fund for smaller projects and also for contributing
where appropriate to the 12.5% community
contribution which is still required for projects funded
through the Whitelee fund which is administered by
Natural Capital Ltd 50 Falck Renewables
