Proposed Moorhouse Farmers Windfarm National, Regional and East Renfrewshire Planning Policy on Wind Farms National Planning Policy for Renewable Energy - SPP 6 Renewable Energy (2007) - The Scottish Government is committed to encouraging the development of renewable sources of electricity generation as part of a package of measures in support of the its strategy for renewable energy which is set out in ‘Securing a Renewable Future: Scotland’s Renewable Energy. This confirms a target of 18% of electricity generated in Scotland coming from renewable sources by 2010, rising to 40% by 2020 Glasgow and Clyde Valley Joint Structure Plan (GCVJSP) (2006) - Strategic Policy 8: Sustainable Development of Natural Resources identifies Potential Areas of Search for significant wind farm development on the southern and eastern edge of the structure plan area and supports development within these areas. The proposal site falls within a Potential Area of Search East Renfrewshire Local Plan (2003) - Policy E8: Renewable Energy: The Council will support renewable energy proposals, including wind turbine developments and bio-mass coppicing, in appropriate locations provided that it can be demonstrated that the environmental impacts of such proposals are minimised East Renfrewshire Replacement Consultative Local Plan (2008) - Policy E16: Renewable Energy: In relation to windfarms, the Council will assess all Planning Applications for such developments against the provisions of the SPP6 – “Renewable Energy” and any future guidance. Proposals for windfarm developments with an output over 20MW will, in principle be supported in the Potential Areas of Search for Windfarms, identified in the Structure Plan and shown on the Proposals Map
