Dear Mr Simcox,
Moorhouse Farmers Windfarm – Proposal of Application Notice
As you are aware from previous communication with you Coriolis Energy on behalf of
Falck Renewables is developing a proposal for a windfarm of around a 40MW capacity,
with some 16 to 20 turbines, situated approximately eight kilometres (km) to the south
west of Glasgow, near Eaglesham. In order to take the proposal forward, Coriolis Energy
has appointed Natural Capital and their team as environmental consultants.
Statutory requirements for pre-application consultation (PAC) are set out in the Town and
Country Planning (Development Management Procedure (Scotland) Regulations 2008
and the relevant provisions of the Town and Country Planning (Scotland) Act 1997 as
amended by the Planning etc. (Scotland) Act 2006. All national and major developments
require PAC between developers and communities. These categories are defined in the
(draft) Town and Country Planning (Hierarchy of Developments) (Scotland) Regulations
2009. A major development includes ‘Electricity Generation: construction of an electricity
generating station - the capacity of the generating station is or exceeds 20 megawatts’.
The proposed Moorhouse Farmers windfarm has a 40MW capacity which means it is
classed within the major category and is therefore subject to PAC.
As part of the PAC we have submitted a proposal of application notice to East
Renfrewshire Council outlining our intended consultation activities for this project prior to
the submission of a planning application and we attach a copy for your information.
We have also sent a copy of this letter to Mearns and Fenwick Community Councils for
information.
With many thanks for your help and please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any
comments or require any further information.
Yours sincerely
Megan Richardson
Consultant
