This is the first FFH annual report that is not comprised <strong>of</strong><br />
one large sheet <strong>of</strong> paper, printed on both sides, folded like a<br />
road-map.<br />
Public support <strong>and</strong> revenue totalled $2.850 million in<br />
calendar year 1989, down 11.3% <strong>from</strong> the previous year.<br />

ever published on <strong>soy</strong> flour <strong>and</strong> cereal-<strong>soy</strong> blends. It is also<br />
the single most current <strong>and</strong> useful source <strong>of</strong> in<strong>for</strong>mation on<br />
this subject available today, since 56% <strong>of</strong> all references (<strong>and</strong><br />
most <strong>of</strong> the current ones) contain a summary/abstract<br />
averaging 84 words in length.<br />
One <strong>of</strong> more than 40 bibliographies on <strong>soy</strong>beans <strong>and</strong><br />
<strong>soy</strong>foods being published by the Soyfoods <strong>Center</strong>, it is<br />
based on historical principles, listing all known documents<br />
<strong>and</strong> commercial products in chronological order. Containing<br />
32 different document types (both published <strong>and</strong><br />
unpublished, including many original interviews <strong>and</strong> partial<br />
translations <strong>of</strong> Japanese <strong>and</strong> European works), it is a<br />
powerful tool <strong>for</strong> underst<strong>and</strong>ing the development <strong>of</strong> this<br />
subject <strong>and</strong> related products <strong>from</strong> its earliest beginnings to<br />
the present, worldwide.<br />
Compiled one record at a time over a period <strong>of</strong> 15<br />
years, each reference in this bibliography features (in<br />
addition to the typical author, date, title, volume <strong>and</strong> pages<br />
in<strong>for</strong>mation) the author’s address, number <strong>of</strong> references<br />
cited, original title <strong>of</strong> all non-English publications together<br />
with an English translation, month <strong>and</strong> issue <strong>of</strong> publication,<br />
<strong>and</strong> the first author’s first name (if given).<br />
It also includes details on 653 commercial <strong>soy</strong> flour<br />
products, including the product name, date <strong>of</strong> introduction,<br />
manufacturer’s name, address <strong>and</strong> phone number, <strong>and</strong> (in<br />
many cases) ingredients, weight, packaging <strong>and</strong> price,<br />
storage requirements, nutritional composition, <strong>and</strong> a<br />
description <strong>of</strong> the label. Sources <strong>of</strong> additional in<strong>for</strong>mation<br />
on each product (such as references to <strong>and</strong> summaries <strong>of</strong><br />
advertisements, articles, patents, etc.) are also given.
