ALU/Florida Tech Partnership
Since 1973, ALMC, and now ALU, with Florida Tech have worked
cooperatively in offering graduate degree programs. All programs
require completion of 33 credit hours (excluding possible prerequisites).
Florida Tech and the U.S. Army have established a number
of cooperative graduate degree programs that combine the military
instruction at ALU with Florida Tech graduate courses leading to a
master of science degree. Participation in a cooperative degree program
requires completion of an ALU course, followed by two or three
academic semesters as a full-time student. ALU/Florida Tech cooperative
degree programs are currently available in conjunction with the
Theater Logistics Course (TLog); Intern Logistics Studies Program
(iLog) and Operations Research/Systems Analysis Course (ORSA).
Requirements may be completed through resident attendance at
Fort Lee, online, and through transfer credit from approved military
programs and/or another master’s degree program. A maximum of 12
credit hours may be transferred into a Florida Tech graduate degree
program. An official transcript is required to verify a grade of B or
better was achieved before transfer credit can be approved. Many
courses taught by the ALU and the Defense Acquisition University
(DAU) can be transferred toward these degree programs.
The following is a partial list of military courses most commonly used
by students for transfer credit:
ALU Theater Logistics Studies (TLog) (12 credit hours)
Combined Logistics Captains Career Course (CLC3) (6 credit hours)
Operations Research/Systems Analysis Military Applications
Course (ORSA) (12 credit hours)
Intern Logistics Studies Program (iLog) (12 credit hours)
Enrollment Procedures
Individuals wishing to enroll in the TLog, iLog or ORSA courses and
participate in a ALU/Florida Tech cooperative degree program must
channels and their chain of command. Students should complete
an application for admission to Florida Tech indicating acceptance
for one of the military course that are part of the cooperative
degree program.
Florida Tech maintains an off-campus site at Fort Eustis to serve the
Hampton Roads, Virginia, region. The office is located in the Herb
Bateman Army Education Center. The local Florida Tech program
originally operated under a military waiver from the Commonwealth
of Virginia, with courses limited to the military and Department of
Defense civilian employees. In 1991, Florida Tech’s graduate program
received state approval to extend its services to dependents and
members of the general public. Today the student body is a richly
diverse group from each of the military installations in the area, NASA
Langley Research Center, Huntington Ingalls Industries, Lockheed
Martin, Pfizer Pharmaceuticals, the Veteran’s Administration and a
variety of technological corporations and general businesses on both
sides of Hampton Roads.
Graduate courses in the master’s degree programs are taught by highly
experienced faculty members recruited from business and industry.
Florida Tech conducts graduate programs under a Memorandum of
Understanding, with graduate courses offered at Fort Eustis. Florida
the expert instruction and dedication of faculty, who are leaders in
the local business and education community, as part of the university’s
tradition of excellence.
The Florida Tech site is located at Fort Eustis, which lies between
Newport News and Williamsburg, Virginia. The site director serves
as a full time site director and faculty member. A senior resident
