By 2002, new approaches to the management <strong>of</strong><br />

common pool resources <strong>and</strong> forest biodiversity<br />

validated in two target areas, incl. Ghana FAI.<br />

By 2003, these approaches incorporated into<br />

participatory management strategies to maintain forest<br />

integrity <strong>and</strong> adopted by target institutions in two<br />

targeted countries.<br />

By end <strong>of</strong> project:<br />

Knowledge <strong>of</strong> institutions mediating policy<br />

(decentralised local govt./ agriculture <strong>and</strong> forest-related<br />

institutions) updated, identifying gaps <strong>and</strong> key<br />

constraints.<br />

Research topics on strategies <strong>of</strong> participatory<br />

management aimed at enhancing the livelihoods <strong>of</strong> the<br />

poor <strong>and</strong> marginal at the FAI investigated <strong>and</strong><br />

elaborated with a view to informing future FAI calls on<br />

Ghana <strong>and</strong> elsewhere.<br />

Uptake pathways for alternative policy <strong>and</strong> other<br />

innovations defined <strong>and</strong> assessed<br />
