l) recognize the representative of the RI president’s experience and involve the<br />

representative in group discussion sessions and other sessions accordingly<br />

m) provide a special orientation event for new Rotarians<br />

n) include a district leadership seminar for interested Rotarians who have served as club<br />

president, or have served for three or more years in a leadership role in the club, for one<br />

22.020.3. Role and Responsibilities of the Governor<br />

To achieve a successful district conference the governor will<br />

a) be responsible for the planning, organizing and conducting of the conference<br />

b) develop a comprehensive and well-balanced program within the Board-recommended<br />

guidelines<br />

c) ensure that hospitality and courtesy appropriate to the RI president is given to the<br />

representative of the RI president and his/her spouse<br />

d) ensure maximum representation from every club in the district by involving them in<br />

conference programs and activities<br />

e) encourage the involvement of the local community by conducting a well-planned<br />

public relations effort - that includes media relations - before, during and after the<br />

conference<br />

f) invite representatives of the local community to participate in the program as<br />

appropriate<br />

g) make a special effort to have the entire membership of all newly organized clubs<br />

attend the conference<br />

22.020.4. Compliance with Minimum Standards<br />

Each year directors should receive copies of district conference reports for districts in the<br />

appropriate zone(s) and a summary report by zone indicating any districts that have been<br />

rated on the “Report of the President’s Representative to the President of Rotary<br />

International” as “fair” or “weak” for three consecutive years. The director, after<br />

consultation with the general secretary, will develop a strategy to provide appropriate<br />

mentoring for incoming governors of designated districts for a period of two years. The<br />

director should initiate contact with the governors-elect of these districts as appropriate.<br />
