5.040.3. Individual Rotarian's Role in Membership Growth<br />

Inherent in the purpose of Rotary is the acceptance of the personal application of the ideal<br />

of service. Individual Rotarians should recognize that this responsibility includes a<br />

personal obligation to share Rotary with others and to help extend Rotary through<br />

proposing qualified persons for Rotary club membership. (November 2004 Mtg., Bd.<br />

5.040.4. Report of Membership Termination Form<br />

The "Report of Membership Termination" form shall indicate the length of time that a<br />

person has been a member. Such information shall be used in developing statistical<br />

information helpful to the membership development committees on all administrative<br />

levels. Clubs are encouraged to find out from each member who resigns the reason for<br />

5.040.5. Relationship Between Club Secretaries and District Membership Development<br />

Committees<br />

Club secretaries are requested to supply information about the causes of membership loss<br />

to governors and district membership development committees. Upon receipt of such<br />

information, governors and such committees shall take steps to help clubs eliminate loss<br />

5.040.6. Club Membership Increase<br />

When a club’s membership increases by more than 25 percent between semiannual report<br />

periods the general secretary shall take the following action:<br />

a. Determine the legitimacy of the membership list<br />

b. Work with the district governor to assist the club in administering the substantial<br />

increase in it membership<br />

c. Advise the club president that if the purported membership increase is not verified, the<br />

Board will consider this a serious violation of the trust placed in him/her as a club<br />

officer, and – pursuant to RI bylaws section 3.030. – will consider disciplining the<br />
