The wine cellars have been much more than a cave for making and storing wine.<br />

Some say with a certain malice, “Ay...if only the wine cellars could talk. The fact is th<strong>at</strong><br />

people talked a lot and about everything in the wine cellars. At the he<strong>at</strong> of wine, so many<br />

things come out and we can only imagine the secrets th<strong>at</strong> have been told there.”<br />

In today’s terms, I would say th<strong>at</strong> the wine cellars are a place where one can<br />

release stress. Certainly for many people in the past, going to the wine cellar was just as<br />

effective as visiting a psychologist today. There was a lot of loyalty in a friendship.<br />

There was a lot of care and understanding between friends and they could talk about<br />

anything. I am sure th<strong>at</strong> these informal reunions, this daily life together, is wh<strong>at</strong> farmers<br />

of today miss the most. In the past, they were always together, sharing happiness and<br />

sadness. Today, life has changed into one going and coming, and there is no time for<br />

anything.<br />

One participant described the wine cellars as the following: The wine cellars, for<br />

approxim<strong>at</strong>ely twenty something years, have represented the past referring culture. Th<strong>at</strong><br />

is where children, youth, and adults congreg<strong>at</strong>ed- in groups of similar ages, during free<br />

times, especially on Sundays to have lunch, ch<strong>at</strong> and sing.<br />

We must remember th<strong>at</strong> Ciadoncha has not had very many places where people<br />

can go to distract themselves. The elders of the town remember th<strong>at</strong> in the past there<br />

were dance parlors which were very popular, but this was several years ago. They also<br />

remember Arturo’s house. How many cups of coffee were served, how many people<br />

would stop by to converse and spend some time. The Teleclub, which was the same as a<br />

bar, but was called this because there were television in these places, is where people<br />

would go to w<strong>at</strong>ch some shows while they ch<strong>at</strong>ted, smoked, and drank a glass of wine.<br />

Each era had something, but only th<strong>at</strong>- a place of enjoyment and nothing else. The wine<br />
