2.110 Vertical Velocity Indicator (VVI)<br />

The Vertical Velocity Indicator (VVI) indicates the aircraft’s rate of<br />

climb (or descent) in thousands of feet per minute. The needle<br />

counts clockwise from zero as the aircraft climbs, and counts<br />

counter-clockwise as the aircraft descends.<br />

2.111 Engine Tachometer<br />

This pair of instruments indicates the engine speed as a<br />

percentage of maximum RPM for both the left and right<br />

engines. The red band indicates afterburner.<br />

2.112 Fan Turbine Inlet Temperature (FTIT)<br />

Indicators<br />

Located below the tachometers, this pair of instruments<br />

combines an analog pointer and digital readout. The<br />

temperature is shown in increments of 10 degrees centigrade.<br />

The red band indicates excessive temperature.<br />

2.113 Fuel Flow Indicators<br />

This pair of instruments shows the fuel flow, including<br />

afterburner, for each engine. Flow is measured in pounds per<br />

hour.<br />

2.114 Exhaust Nozzle Position Indicators<br />

Located in the lower right of the instrument panel, this pair of<br />

instruments shows the exhaust nozzle position for each engine.<br />

The display shows the position as a percentage of being<br />

completely open.<br />

2.115 Fuel Quantity Indicator<br />

The fuel quantity indicator shows the remaining<br />

fuel in the internal and external tanks. The needle<br />

in the center of the display shows the internal<br />

fuel, measured in thousands of pounds. Three<br />

numeric indicators show the total fuel remaining<br />

(internal and external), the fuel remaining in the<br />

left wing tank, and the fuel remaining in the right<br />

wing tank. All three displays measure the<br />

remaining fuel in pounds.<br />
