Post columnist Eric Gerber described th
recent Academy Awards presentation i
"the most unconventional in recent men
ory." His suggestions for improvemen
"One year, just one year, I would like I
see the show run a flat two hours and d
vote itself to two things only—the actuj
presentation of the awards and, more in
portantly, clips from a variety of films. Lo
1
of clips. Bunches and bunches of clips. Pr
sumably, the idea behind the Oscar she
is to promote the industry. What better w;
than to put as much of your product befo
the public as possible."
