Di Muro will continue as a consultant. * World Wide Film Corp. premiered "Youthquake!" at the Preston. Aquarius and Casa Linda theatres in Dallas Friday (8), preceded by a promotional concert and picnic Saturday (2). • Pinnacle Productions has been formed to produce feature films and has lined up as its first project a $3.5 million World War II epic, "Com-Tac 303." Officers of the Beverly Hills-based company are Ray George, chairman of the board; William Gordon and James Doherty, vice-presidents; Joseph L. Cranston, vice-president and secretary-treasurer, and William A. Trowbridge, president. • Producer-director Hikmet Avedis has changed the title of his feature "The Young Migrants" to "Texas Detour." The film stars Patrick Wayne and Cameron Mitchell. * Universal Pictures will take aim at target audiences for its "Smokey and the Bandit," a story about a wild cross-country trucker chase filmed in Georgia. The film, starring Burt Reynolds and Sally Field, opens, nationally in May and June. Advertising is timed to appear in eight truck, motor and specialty magazines to coincide with the debut. Ads will appear in June in Road & Track, Popular Hot Rodding, Rider, Truckin", ed in Trailer Life and Argosy. An ad appear- March in Street Scene and next month Happenings PSA/ Hughes Air West In-Flight Magazine will carry an advertisement. • MCA's special college scholarship award for 1977, to benefit employees' children, has gone to Steven Mittleman, 17, son of Sheldon Mittleman, associate counsel for MCA and a vice-president for Universal Pictures and Universal Television. Steven will be graduated from Taft High School in Woodland Hills in June and will attend UCLA where he plans to study medicine. • Director Robert Moore has scheduled two weeks of rehearsals starting May 2 for Neil Simon's "The Cheap Detective," Rastar production for Columbia Pictures a starring Peter Falk. • Rastar's "The Goodbye Girl" began a month-long shooting schedule in New York Tuesday (5) after completing six weeks of filming at MGM Studios. The first New York sequence was a comedy scene with Marsha Mason and the Subaru display at the Auto Expo Show. Other locations will be Shubert Alley, Showcase Studios, Open Space Theatre, Metropole Cafe and the Roosevelt Island tram. The Warner Bros, presentation is from Neil Simon's original screenplay. Dracula Society Selects Annual Award Winners HOLLYWOOD—Ida Lupino and Christopher Lee are cinema winners of the 15th annual Radcliffe awards presented by the Count Dracula Society of Los Angeles. Dr. Donald A. Reed, president of the society, said that the awards will be presented at a gala dinner at the University Hilton, University of Southern California, Saturday evening (30), with 500 members and friends expected to attend. Variety 25 Holds First Annual Tennis Tourney LOS ANGELES—The first annual Variety Club of Southern California Tent 25 tennis tournament, held at the Ambassador Tennis and Health Club was highlighted by a celebrity match between the Los Angeles Rams' Bob Klein and John Cappelletti vs. ABC newsman Jerry Dunphy and critic) Regis Philbin. Klein and Cappelletti won; the match 6-2, 6-3. The match was con trolled by noted umpire Sarg Burns, presi dent of the Southern California Tennis Um pires Ass'n. Other winners were Bob McKay and Suzanne Sproul in Class A, Tim Mclntyn; and Alison Winston in Class B and Man Michaelson and Eileen Cohen in Class C Announcements of the winners were mad by Murray Propper, president of the asso ciation which is dedicated to helping handi capped and underprivileged children.
