CWRs, which can be up to 434 metres long.<br />

For this project, however, ETF developed a<br />

special laying method and system.<br />

The wagon, combined with a new trailer for<br />

laying concrete sleepers, removes the rails<br />

from the storage train and lays them by<br />

pushing them along rollers fixed to the<br />

sleepers. The track can thus be laid directly<br />

in 400 metre sections, generating savings<br />

in terms of both productivity and safety:<br />

elimination of rail slinging operations and<br />

the risks of breakage; mechanisation of<br />

the task of hooking CWRs to the train,<br />

remote-controlled manoeuvring, etc.<br />

Eurovia exploits all the competitive advantages<br />

derived from its innovation policy in<br />

every sector of activity. Its worldwide<br />

research centre and technical network of<br />

25 laboratories, which employ a total of<br />

650 engineers and 35 researchers, develop<br />

not only new generation rail systems but<br />

also products and processes that reduce the<br />

quantities of materials used and energy<br />

consumption during infrastructure works.<br />

These solutions optimise the use of both<br />

natural and recycled resources.
