roles and role expectations of criminal justice agents in their interrelationships in society; concepts of crime causations;<br />
punishments and rehabilitation; ethics, education and training for professionalism in the social system.<br />
ADMJ 105 COMMUNITY AND 3 UNITS<br />
HOURS: 3 LEC HUMAN RELATIONS CSU, UC<br />
The relationship between criminal justice agents and the community; causal and symptomatic aspects of community<br />
understanding and misunderstanding; lack of cooperation and mistrust between each; study of behavioral causes<br />
and ways to develop and maintain amicable relationships.<br />

Origin, development, philosophy and constitutional basis of evidence; constitutional and procedural considerations<br />
affecting arrest, search and seizures; kinds and degrees of evidence and rules governing admissibility; judicial decisions<br />
interpreting individual rights and case studies viewed from a conceptual level.<br />

Fundamentals of investigation; techniques of crime scene search and recording; collection and preservation of physical<br />
evidence; modus operandi processes; sources of information; interviews and interrogations; follow-up investigations.<br />

An introduction into major types of criminal behavior, characteristics of offenders, factors that contribute to crime<br />
and delinquency; the criminal justice process; the function of law enforcement, courts, probation, parole and institutions;<br />
changes in crime control and treatment processes; the role of society. Not open for credit to students who have<br />
had a sociology Crime and Delinquency course.<br />
ADMJ 114 JUVENILE JUSTICE 3 UNITS<br />

Techniques of handling juvenile offenders and victims; prevention and repression of delinquency; diagnosis and<br />
referral; organization of community resources. Juvenile law and court procedures.<br />
ADMJ 116 VICE, NARCOTICS AND 3 UNITS<br />
HOURS: 3 LEC ORGANIZED CRIME CSU<br />
Drug identification, drug prevention techniques and strategies, and drug addiction treatment; interrelations of<br />
organized crime to the community, impact of covert criminal activities upon the social structure, symptoms of<br />
organized crime activity, i.e. vice, narcotics, and organized criminal enterprises; political influences of organized crime<br />
in the legal system; investigation of organized crime.<br />
ADMJ 118 POLICE FIELD OPERATIONS 3 UNITS<br />
HOURS: 3 LEC<br />

History and development of patrol philosophy; planning for field activities to include functions of patrol, traffic,<br />
and other investigative duties of the field officer; techniques for planning patrol activities; handling complaints and<br />
requests for services; mechanics of field interviews, searches, and arrests; handling traffic-related problems; civil and<br />
domestic disturbances and other community crime incidents.<br />
