A student may take advanced course work or complete a student designed project in Biology after having completed<br />

introductory courses. The topics, learning objectives, educational material(s), number of units to be awarded, and<br />

method of evaluation are determined in a written agreement between the instructor and the student before the<br />

student engages in the learning experience. A “Learning Contract for Directed Studies” must be completed by the<br />

student, approved by the instructor, and Chief Instructional Officer, and placed on file with the Office of Instruction.<br />

BIOL 299 SPECIAL TOPICS IN 1-3 UNITS<br />

HOURS: 1-3 leC; 3-27 FIELD ENVIROMENTAL STUDIES CSU<br />

Course covers selected topics in evolving issues or research in the area of environmental management or ecosystem<br />

science or special field topics as the opportunity arises. Independent student research and presentation are<br />

Introduction to accounting theory and practice. First semester of accounting presents the recording, analyzing, and<br />

summarizing procedures used in preparing the income statement, statement of owner’s equity, and balance sheet.<br />

BUS 104 MANAGERIAL ACCOUTING 4 UNITS<br />

A continuation of the study of accounting theory. Includes accounting for corporations; internal control; cost systems<br />

and budgeting; cost-profit-volume analysis; statement analysis and interpretation; cash flow; taxes and accounting<br />

concepts. Strong emphasis is on management uses of accounting data for decision making. Prerequisite: BUS 102.<br />

BUS 106 PRINCIPLES OF 3 UNITS<br />

HOURS: 3 leC ECONOMICS-MACRO CSU (d2), UC, IGETC (4b)<br />

An introduction to the principles of economic analysis and decision making from the viewpoint of the economy as a<br />

whole. Emphasis is on the market system, supply and demand, the U.S. economy, the gross domestic product from<br />

the expenditures approach, fiscal policy, and monetary policy. This course contains global, international, and multicultural<br />

material interspersed throughout the classroom curriculum.<br />

BUS 108 PRINCIPLES OF 3 UNITS<br />

HOURS: 3 leC ECONOMICS-MICRO CSU (D2), UC, IGETC (4B)<br />

An introduction to the principles of economic analysis and decision making from the viewpoint of the individual<br />

consumer, worker, and firm. Emphasis upon the price system, allocation of resources and income, supply and demand<br />

analysis, the structure of the American industry, and applications to current economic policy and problems. This<br />

course contains global, international and multi-cultural material interspersed throughout the classroom curriculum.<br />
