An advanced level course for intercollegiate Women’s Soccer designed to train students in the off-season with<br />
additional attention to individual development. Competitive team play and strategy will be covered as well.<br />
Knowledge and adherence to the Commission On Athletics and Golden Valley Conference rules and regulations will<br />
be strictly enforced.<br />

A student may take advanced course work or complete a student designed project in Health and Exercise Studies after<br />
having completed introductory courses. The topics, learning objectives, educational material(s), number of units to be<br />
awarded, and method of evaluation are determined in a written agreement between the instructor and the student<br />
before the student engages in the learning experience. A “Learning Contract for Directed Studies” must be completed by<br />
the student, approved by the instructor and Chief Instructional Officer, and placed on file with the Office of Instruction.<br />

A survey of ancient Near Eastern and European civilizations including Mesopotamia, Egypt, Greece, Rome, Byzantium,<br />
Christianity, Islam, and the Early Middle Ages.<br />

A survey of the history of modern Western Civilizations including the late Medieval, Renaissance, Reformation, Age of<br />
Revolution, Industrialism, Imperialism through developments of the 20th century.<br />

A survey of the history of the U.S. from pre-Columbian societies and European colonization through the Revolution,<br />
Westward Expansion, the Civil War and Reconstruction. Emphasis is placed on the evolution of the nation’s political<br />
and economic institutions, as well as social, cultural, and foreign policy history. Advisory: ENGL 010.<br />
HIST 109 ANCIENT WORLD 3 UNITS<br />
HOURS: 3 LEC CIVILIZATIONS CSU (D6), UC, IGETC (3B, 4f)<br />
This course is a survey of world history from the Neolithic period to the 7th century. The course will examine the<br />
political, economic, religious and social structures that shaped civilizations in Mesopotamia, Europe, East and South<br />
Asia, Africa, and the Americas. The course will also cover the sixth-grade history/social science curriculum in California<br />
public schools for students pursuing a teaching credential.<br />
HIST 110 THE UNITED STATES 3 UNITS<br />
HOURS: 3 LEC SINCE 1877 CSU (c2, D6), UC, IGETC (3B, 4f)<br />
A survey of the U.S. from the end of Reconstruction through industrialization, overseas expansion, the Progressive<br />
Era, the Great Depression, the World Wars, the Cold War, and America’s role in the contemporary world. Emphasis<br />
is placed on the evolution of the nation’s political and economic institutions, as well as social, cultural, and foreign<br />
policy history.<br />
