1. Metal Enclosures: Steel, finished inside and out with manufacturer's standard
enamel.
2. Nonmetallic Enclosures: Plastic, finished inside with radio-frequency-resistant
paint.
H. Cabinets: NEMA 250, Type 1, galvanized steel box with removable interior panel and
removable front, finished inside and out with manufacturer's standard enamel. Hinged
door in front cover with flush latch and concealed hinge. Key latch to match
panelboards. Include metal barriers to separate wiring of different systems and voltage
and include accessory feet where required for freestanding equipment.
2.6 FACTORY FINISHES
A. Finish: For raceway, enclosure, or cabinet components, provide manufacturer's
standard paint applied to factory-assembled surface raceways, enclosures, and
cabinets before shipping.
PART 3 - EXECUTION
3.1 RACEWAY APPLICATION
A. Outdoors:
1. Exposed: Rigid steel or IMC.
2. Concealed: Rigid steel or IMC.
3. Underground, Single Run: SCH 40 PVC.
4. Underground, Grouped: SCH 40 PVC.
5. Connection to Vibrating Equipment (Including Transformers and Hydraulic,
Pneumatic, Electric Solenoid, or Motor-Driven Equipment): LFMC.
6. Boxes and Enclosures: NEMA 250, Type 3R.
B. Indoors:
1. Exposed: IMC – wet locations; EMT – dry locations
2. Concealed: EMT.
3. Connection to Vibrating Equipment (Including Transformers and Hydraulic,
Pneumatic, Electric Solenoid, or Motor-Driven Equipment): FMC; except use
LFMC in damp or wet locations or where exposed to view (not concealed).
4. Damp or Wet Locations: Rigid steel conduit.
5. Boxes and Enclosures: NEMA 250, Type 1, except as follows:
a. Damp or Wet Locations: NEMA 250, Type 4, nonmetallic are permitted.
6. Flexible metal conduit: Where applications are not concealed by the building
construction, liquid tight flexible conduit and grounding type fittings shall be used
and system shall be fully bonded.
C. Minimum Raceway Size: 1/2-inch trade size (DN 16), except underground shall be ¾”
minimum.
