Early Childhood Education (ECE)<br />

5. Underst<strong>and</strong> <strong>and</strong> demonstrate commitment to NAEYC’s code of<br />

ethical conduct, <strong>and</strong> to st<strong>and</strong>ards of professional practice with children<br />

<strong>and</strong> adults.<br />

6. Begin to assess young children’s ongoing developmental <strong>and</strong><br />

cultural needs to be able to individualize curriculum <strong>and</strong> teaching<br />

strategies.<br />

7. Articulate a professional philosophy of early childhood educa tion,<br />

using appropriate terminology <strong>and</strong> respect for diversity.<br />

8. Work as part of an early childhood education team, using clear<br />

communication <strong>and</strong> professional skills to plan <strong>and</strong> manage programs<br />

for young children.<br />

Field Work Requirements<br />

In addition to meeting the admission requirements of the College, Early<br />

Childhood students must provide the following before the start of their first<br />

field work course:<br />

1. A signed CMCC Student Disclosure <strong>and</strong> Consent form.<br />

2. Demonstration of social <strong>and</strong> emotional stability <strong>and</strong> maturity.<br />

3. Arrangements for providing one’s own transportation to <strong>and</strong> from<br />

fi eld work settings that take place in a wide geographic area <strong>and</strong> in a<br />

variety of settings.<br />

Early Childhood Education majors must obtain a minimum grade of<br />
