BCT 240 Construction Drafting<br />

In this course students continue their study of<br />

Auto CAD by completing the set of Resi dential<br />

blue prints started in BCT 127. Auto-CAD file <strong>and</strong><br />

layer management is stressed along with construction<br />

details, building upon all previous BCT<br />

course knowledge. Prerequisites: BCT 127.<br />

BCT 296 Independent Study<br />

Variable Credit (Maximum 3) Number of hours<br />

per week to be deter mined by Advisor<br />

The provision allows for a performance contract<br />

between student <strong>and</strong> a depart ment instructor<br />

to reach mutually agreed upon goals. Credit<br />

will “experi ence” leadership activities by developing<br />

appropriate interpersonal skills through<br />

course is to promote an underst<strong>and</strong>ing of acceptable<br />

<strong>and</strong> unaccept able employment practices<br />

govern ment regulation, torts, personal <strong>and</strong><br />

The course will also explore the historical,<br />

psychological, sociological, <strong>and</strong> philosophical<br />

foundations of sports management, organizational<br />

concepts <strong>and</strong> their application to sport<br />

man agement. Event planning <strong>and</strong> facility management<br />

will also be introduced.<br />

BUS 145 Facilities Management<br />

This course will explore the world of Facili ties<br />

Management. The student will gain an underst<strong>and</strong>ing<br />

as to the complexity involved in the<br />

The course will include the theory behind<br />

planning <strong>and</strong> managing a facility as well as<br />

numerous case studies allowing the student to<br />

apply the theory presented in the beginning of<br />

Considered a major component of econom ic<br />

activity, Retailing surrounds <strong>and</strong> impacts us on<br />

a daily basis. This course is designed to provide<br />

an underst<strong>and</strong>ing of the principles involved in<br />

a successful retail operation <strong>and</strong> recognize the<br />

dramatic change the activity is undergoing - from<br />

“bricks <strong>and</strong> mortar” to E-Commerce. Additionally,<br />

25% of the course will concern itself with<br />

merch<strong>and</strong>ising tools, techniques, <strong>and</strong> strategies.<br />

Note: if a student is interested in a specifi c<br />

field of retailing (i.e. auto parts <strong>and</strong> service etc.)<br />

their assignments will be directed accordingly.<br />
