He previously held university appointments in Lund(Sweden), New York and Prague. He is author or editor of Social Researchand Cultural Policy (1979); Work and Leisure in the Soviet Union (1980);World Leisure Participation (1996); The Effects of Time Use and TimePressure or Child–Parent Relationships (2000).
