General - The <strong>Construction</strong> Inspector is the <strong>Town</strong>’s primaryresident representative and is responsible for insuring that allwork is constructed in accordance with the approvedconstruction drawings, this manual and the NCDOT<strong>Specifications</strong>. The Inspector will insure that the above isaccomplished through visual inspections, surveys, materialstesting and communications with the developer and/orcontractor. The Inspector is also responsible for maintaininga written record <strong>of</strong> daily progress to be filed with thepermanent project records. The authorities and limitations <strong>of</strong>the Inspector are set forth below:2. Authoritya. The Inspector has the authority to reject materials andworkmanship that do not meet the requirements <strong>of</strong>this manual, NCDOT Standards (if applicable), shopdrawings, manufacturer’s specifications and theconstruction drawings. The Developer/Contractor willuncover or safe-up any item <strong>of</strong> work that the Inspectorwishes to see.b. The Inspector has the authority to maintain a writtenrecord <strong>of</strong> daily events and to photograph any item <strong>of</strong>work.c. The Inspector has the authority to temporarily stopconstruction for any item <strong>of</strong> work if materials testingmust be performed, an inspection conducted or if theitem does not meet the requirements <strong>of</strong> the plans andspecifications. All work may be temporarily stopped ifthe Inspector observes a life-threatening hazard tohimself, the contractor’s forces or the general public.
