UHF/700 MHz P<strong>25</strong> <strong>Radio</strong> Communications System<strong>Request</strong>ion <strong>for</strong> <strong>Proposals</strong><strong>Caroline</strong> <strong>County</strong>, <strong>Virginia</strong>6.4 Generator and Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS)A. This section provides specifications and requirements <strong>for</strong> standby power systemsto supply electrical power in the event of failure of normal supply, consisting of aliquid cooled engine, an AC alternator and system controls with all necessaryaccessories <strong>for</strong> a complete operating system, including but not limited to theitems as specified.B. The SELECTED VENDOR shall provide an emergency generator system at eachnew radio communications site <strong>for</strong> backup power.C. The SELECTED VENDOR shall per<strong>for</strong>m electrical loading analysis <strong>for</strong> shelterequipment, including HVAC subsystems, during preliminary design to verifygenerator size and fuel tank capacity. All electrical loading calculations shallinclude a 50% expansion factor, and all assumptions regarding powerconsumption and duty factor shall be thoroughly explained.1. For the purpose of the proposal, RESPONDENT shall assume thefollowing:a. 35 kWb. Single phasec. 60 Hzd. Propane fuele. Minimum 72 hour run time at full loadD. In the event of a commercial power outage, the emergency generator shallprovide power to the entire shelter without system outage.E. Quality Assurance – The system shall be supplied by a manufacturer who hasbeen regularly engaged in the production of engine-alternator sets, automatictransfer switches, and associated controls <strong>for</strong> a minimum of 10 years, therebyidentifying one source of supply and responsibility.F. The generator system and all accessories and ancillary equipment shall complywith the following standards:1. NFPA 37 Flammable and Combustible Liquids Code2.
